Workshops

During Term 2 and 3 the Whetū students have had the opportunity to be involved in a range of different workshops.

The workshop that I have enjoyed participating in the most has been fitness.

The new learning that I have learnt is that you can make a paper clip float.

What I have most enjoyed about the workshops have been able to blow up balloons by using any sort of acid.

I am interested in learning more about water and seeing what else you can float on the top of it.

My Hero

 Jonah Lomu

Jonah Tali Lomu was born in Auckland but grew up in Tonga with his Aunty and Uncle, He was born on the 12th May 1975. He was 1.96m tall and weighed 120kg. He was also married three times and had two kids called Brayley and Dhyreille.

Jonah went to Wesley College and when he started playing rugby at Wesley College he was the top try scorer. Jonah scored 185 points for the All Blacks. He scored 37 tries in just 63 test matches. He was the top try scorer in the World Cup when he scored fifteen tries in just eleven games. McDonalds named a burger after him in 1996 called the Jonah burger. His famous playing number was eleven. In 1995 Jonah was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome and underwent a kidney transplant in 2004. His new kidney was donated by Grant Kereama, a close friend and New Zealand radio presenter. In 2015 Lomu died from a heart attack related to his kidney disease.

I chose Jonah because I like playing rugby and Jonah was really good at playing rugby so I wanted to learn more about him.

Alex

For the last few weeks, I have been researching about Jonah Lomu. Once I had found all the information I made a report on him and what he did.

Zoo Inquiry

This is mine and Jared's inquiry 'So What?'. I created a Brochure to show my learning about the question. Should animals be kept in zoos?'. My opinion was that animals should be kept in a zoo.
